ski resort
Jimmmy H asked:

Incredible, but Chamonix reports paper-thin snowdepths on their lower slopes in late Dec. year after year. Will any Alps resort have snowdepth >4-5 ft on the lower slopes around Christmas?

It is quite unlikely that any of the lower slpes will have this much snow on them at Christmas. The best bet is probably a high altitude resort. I suggest Tignes or Obergurgl. Try to go for a resort over 2000m in France, Italy and Switzerland or a resort over 1750m in Austria. However do not expect loads of snow at Christmas and definately do not go to Chamonix - it is extremely low for the western alps. Enjoy your skiing!

Everywhere in the alpes has been struggling for snow at the begining of the season recently. Each year brings new conditions, so there is no such thing as consistency. Global warming I suppose. Pick somwhere high and then just prey! Or better still wait till the last minite to book and see where has the best snow.

    The higher the better…

The bis snow falls do not really happen until Jan in a lot of places so you’re always running a risk in December
