Jose Bosingwa asked:

Remember when the AGW alarmists were predicting that global warming would ring the death knell of the ski industry?

If you don’t, here’s a link to one example of such baseless alarmism:

Apparently for the last two years, and three out of four years, the ski season has been characterized by ideal conditions - cold with snow.

So, what happened to the cries of alarm? Why are they among the many global warming predictions that have failed to come to fruition?

Or…. is THIS what they meant? Is the climate threat to the ski industry the number of days in the season when it will be too COLD to ski?

dj I live in NE - Mass. was hit harder economically than much of the country in the late 1980s / early 1990s - simply put, DEMAND fell. Don’t rewrite history.

And yes, condos went up - ski condos, like the ones that now adorn the land on which I used to cross country ski, at Waterville, when I was in high school in the 1980s. They don’t build condos on mountain slopes!

I’m certain that the Goobers responsible for this failed prediction of doom and gloom will be issuing apologies very soon and no doubt, the mainstream media will give those apologies full coverage! (LOL!!)

You have one significant word there.

    ALARMISTS

No responsible Climatologist would have made such predictions.

As for ruining it, it should improve it for the UK, but this won’t be for thousands of years.

EDIT: HERE WE GO AGAIN - The “denier in chief” with his FALSE 0.01% figure.

CO2 has gone up as 0.01% of the total atmosphere, but has gone up 35.6% of the original CO2 baseline, and it is that figure that is relevant.

    AGAIN I ASK HIM

If a poison is safe at 280ppm but lethal at 380ppm WILL HE DRINK THE 380ppm SOLUTION, after all IT’S ONLY A 0.01% INCREASE.

What happened is that it started to snow and blew these predictions.

Global warming predictions are easy when it’s warming. Trouble is that the climate is dynamic, it warms and cools all the time. People just can’t predict the future, and there is no relationship between co2 and climate.

We need to keep in mind that co2 has only increased just 0.01% over the last 100 years. To scant to have any impact.

The ski area in my hometown in NH had almost a decade of poor conditions, and it went out of business. Now the slopes are covered with condos.

Many ski areas, including those near my home in Utah, are surviving with man-made snow because of the decade-long drought. That will only work as long as groundwater levels don’t get critically low.

The Pentagon in its 2007 global warming study said that because of climate change, much of the northern U.S. would become more like Siberia: cold and dry. It is believed that some areas, like northern Utah, will become wetter– but most will not.

Unfortunately, what’s happened so far is just the beginning– the effects of climate change lag by several decades behind changes in CO2 levels. Fortunately (for me anyway) I’ll probably be gone in thirty years when the brunt of climate change begins to hit.
