My class is going on a ski trip to an upscale ski destination, I know how to ski fairly well, but I am nervous I will fall and embarrass myself.

Dont use poles, and just turn make waves like turning from side to side to keep your speed so you dont fall.

First of all, where are u going??? I lived out west and there is a BIG diff between what they consider intermediate and what the east coast considers intermediate. Start slow. Warm up. Exercise for as long as possible prior to going. Lunges etc. Take lessons if need be. Some of my worst vacations have been when i made a fool out of myself on the slopes. AND carry the run map with you!!! LORDY!!!

I just came back from a Christmas ski trip in Copper Mountain, where I took ski lessons for three days. I learned that it’s best to start off learning how to stop and then learn how to turn. It’s also best to not have those poles when you start. The poles are just there to help skiers go faster, so you don’t really need them. Just don’t be scared to try it out. If you stop and keep worrying, you won’t have fun. Just hang out with your friends and make sure you have a good time.

Okay lets start with the skis. I ski the K2 Seths but they are probably way too much for you at this point. Get the K2 Fugitives. They are a great ski for intermediate skiers and can handle any terrain that you will be on. Also keep your technique in mind. Make sure you keep your hands in FRONT OF YOU. This is very important to keep centered and balanced. Also do NOT RIDE YOUR TAILS. Believe me i have seen a lot of park skiers do this and they suck. Just lean into your boots and take the hill head on and fearless. Check out my vids to get an idea of what im talking about.

ALWAYS SKI WITH POLES. First, you want to get lessons just to freshen up with you skiing. Second, don’t try anything you can’t do. Third, just have fun. Having fun is the most important thing.

I’d say to take it slow and make wide turns. Don’t go to fast until you feel like you have the hang of it. At the beginning of the season I always go to mid point before going to the top so I can refresh my memory. Don’t to anything to crazy. Stick with people who are around your level. If you fall, no big deal, that will help you learn from your mistakes. Also make sure you stay warm and hydrated. Hope this helps!
    HAVE FUN!!!!!
