Clearly you haven’t noticed that Dubai is situated in a hot desert region which already has water shortages. Golf courses are already causing a strain on water supplies in countries like Spain, so you can imagine the damage they will do in countries in the Middle East.

what is wrong with watering a golf course. If the water is there use it. Water is reusable unlike oil. It doesnt just run out.

  8. oclandestin on October 7th, 2009 7:34 am

gary - That’s true. But how do you think people in Canada, the US and UK have access to cheap goods and food? Exploitation of workers in the developing world.

  9. oclandestin on October 7th, 2009 11:31 am

patrick - I already pointed out the excessive amounts of energy needed to run this pointless tourist attraction. Water shortages are such a major concern in the UAE that using any amount for superfluous facilities like golf courses and the creation of artificial snow is wasteful beyond belief.

Do you have a brain? Do some research. Go read about how artificial snow is made, it takes barely any water to make it. You might want to think about how much power they are using instead of how much water. The refrigeration used to run this is outrageous. I do commercial refrigeration for a living and this is just amazing. You know a big walk in cooler? Think of one times about 50,000 and you have this.

the people of UAE don’t work because of royalties so the poor people from other countries get treated like crap to build the empire.

    Everything’s excessive and filthy rich.

I truly hope they run out of oil so they can come back down to earth

    Have you got a brain?

  14. ehbra on October 19th, 2009 10:54 am

    who cares its sweet

Another example of how wasteful Dubai is. Building an artificial ski resort in the middle of a desert where there are already water shortages has got to be one of the most environmentally stupid ideas. The amount of energy it must take to run this facility is beyond comprehension. What will Dubai do when their oil runs out?

Ski Dubai is the best, I learned how to ski there, it’s awesome!

  17. Han272 on October 25th, 2009 11:12 pm

it is one of the biggest malls in the world, i go there all the time it’s awesome. They are going to make THE biggest mall in the world next to it, it’s gonna be called “Dubai Mall”, and it’s the biggest in the world.

its actually a lot bigger than that the ski slopes extend around a corner which you cant see from the mall windows. went there january 2006 it was unaturally cold in there you really do need gloves to survive the two hour shift
