When you get to set your foot on a ski resort, you might instantly feel the cool ambiance of fun and frolic as you enter the welcoming doors. Surely, you have had planned in advance your itinerary during such a winter holiday, making sure that you haven’t missed anything to be done while in the freezing terrain cruise.
But while you may be too excited and may be looking forward to all the remarkable things snowflakes have to offer, there are other people within the ski resort who are so serious they can’t squeeze in even just a small amount of fun in their daily rigorous routines. These people are those who hold ski resort jobs, who ensure that you do enjoy your stay in the ski resort of your choice.
Generally, ski resort work is divided into two groups: those that will require you to work on the snow itself, and those that offer service within the resort. Both types of skiing jobs can be then spread out to various categories but are both vital in the successful operation of the skiing resort.
The jobs available on the service segment of the ski resort will generally deal with basic skills regarding hotel and restaurant management. The ski resort jobs classified under the service side would require possible employment candidates’ sufficient knowledge in preparation of food and viands for ski resort customers, table and floor area facilitation and bartending. Other ski resort work in this category would be ski shop staffing, cleanliness and sanitation handling, and other service-related maintenance within the ski resort.
The hotel positions, which are a sub-category of service-related skiing jobs, will include early bookings and hotel reservations, check-in, valet and room service. These positions do not necessarily require a lot of employment experience; more weight is given on good grooming and pleasing personality, and of course, impressive work ethics.
The ski resort work related directly with snow, on the other hand, requires a certain level of expertise as compared to the service-related segment. These jobs vary from ski and snow board instructor, ski shop technicians, ski patrolling, and snow shoveling. While it is really not necessary, it would be an advantage when you apply to ski resort jobs with a certification from certified accrediting organizations to ensure that you meet the standards of the job requirement.
While it sounds more fun to immerse yourself to ski resort jobs that will require you to work on the snow terrain, the latter is generally more rigorous than the former. Granted, you must possess an above-average skiing skills; but you must also know how to impart your skiing ability to beginners who look forward to improving themselves.
